Project #1

Expanding the Opportunities for Cooperation and Communications between NASULGC and DOE/EERE

Project Facilitators: Daryl Lund and Carl O'Connor (NASULGC),  Peter Dreyfuss (Chicago Regional Office) and Tobin Harvey (Senior Advisor to Assistant Secretary)  (DOE/EERE)

Project Mission :  To facilitate cooperation and communications between faculty and staff at NASULGC member institutions and the Department of Energy's Energy Efficient and Renewable Energy (EERE) programs.

The EERE program of the Department of Energy (DOE) has expressed an interest in improving its research and outreach associated with public research universities and colleges. DOE/EERE and the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges (NASULGC) have signed a memorandum of understanding to work together to improve cooperation between their respective organizations. One of the key components leading to improved cooperation is improved communications. Better communications will build the understanding of the programs and organization of DOE/EERE for members of NASULGC. In addition, improved communications will provide DOE/EERE personnel access and understanding of the resources available at NASULGC institutions.

Project Objectives:
  1. Identify opportunities within DOE/EERE for faculty and staff to participate in programs, Boards and review teams.

•  Develop a process to identify specific faculty and staff at NASULGC member institutions eligible to serve on DOE/EERE programs, Boards and review teams.

  1. Provide DOE/EERE with a database of names and credentials of faculty and staff with interests aligned with specific DOE/EERE needs.
  1. Develop a process to improve information concerning professional opportunities available in EERE for graduates of NASULGC institutions. In addition, provide EERE with information about graduates and their areas of interest.
